tucker fall

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

It's raining in Los Angeles today; I couldn't be happier. The overcast light makes the grass outside my apartment glow. The crazy sweet Tucker fall 2013 collection feels like the perfect, spot-on blend of damp English garden freshness and cozy-by-the-fire warmth. I just love the styling, too... platforms and turtlenecks and fur hats, oh my.

Tomas Alonso

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Yeah internet! I came across Tomas Alonso's creations a little bit ago and couldn't get over that crazy good pop of pale pink in the first table pictured below. Upon further digging, I found a body of work that is whimsical and yet strikingly stripped down. Serious color goodness, beautifully textured wood, jungle gym shapes, and even the odd leather detailing here and there... Fantastic. And yes, that is one fancy lantern.

dusen dusen spring 2014

Monday, October 7, 2013

Dusen Dusen, killing it always. Their graphic prints make me think of my favorite grade school pencil case, in only the best of ways. Subtly 80s, kind of Kindergarten-art-teacher, so cool and refreshing. Spring '14 is going to be all about squiggles and crayon-box primary colors, let it be known...

edit: I've since learned that the collection was inspired by the Kinetic art movement in the 1980s - a period of art concerned with perception, movement and motion, and three-dimensional space and sculpture. Into it.

I cannot believe it is October already! Huh, wha? So many things have happened the last month or so... I TURNED 25!, I moved into a new apartment, went to the Malibu County Fair because, why not!, checked out the Norton Simon Museum (so good!), honed some very beginner calligraphy skills with the masterful Maybelle at Poketo, traveled home to the East Coast to visit my family and picked apples down the road from my house, took a trip to Maryland with friends for a very music-filled weekend underneath some truly beautiful early-autumn skies, and of course, took many photos of flowers and plantlife. Ha! All good things. I am thankful.

See more or follow me on Instagram, if you'd like! See the first ⌇instant charms ⌇ post over here, as well. Happy weekend!

ps/ to anyone who has been reading during these early days, I cannot thank you enough. Much love.

pitchouguina

Thursday, October 3, 2013

I just love the surprising details of these pieces from London-based Pitchouguina. Wearable, but worth a double-take. Designer Anna Pitchouguina was inspired by "all the little things that can so easily go unnoticed" in our day-to-day experiences. I just love (looove) that aqua dress and it's delicate strings, and the sublime white + gold top. All you'd need is some high waisted denim and oh, baby.

Doug Aitken's acid modernism

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

When a photo series of an interior space is titled "Acid Modernism," ya just about know you're in for a treat. Ye Rin Mok captures artist Doug Aitken's insanely beautiful, tumbled-down-the-rabbit-hole-&-landed-in-verdant-bloomin'-heaven home, and the results are eye widening - painted greenery crawling across rooms, an entire wall of sunset-toned stained glass, mirrors refracting a room's angles, confusing things just a bit. I love Aitken's word works, and this peak shows us that holy hell, the creativity does not stop there. Absolutely wondrous; I'm in love.

bora aksu spring '14

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Another dream of a collection from fashion week, London-based, Turkish-born label Bora Aksu whisked me awaaaay to some remote fairytale land where the closest you'll get to business casual dress is a shorts suit in perfect folksy rendering. This sunny daffodil yellow and soft blue are my votes for top fashion week color takeaways.
